Background:Najima Kioto grew up in the Sound village. Her mother and father appeared to be loving, caring, and generous people but that was just a hollow facade they wore to keep suspicion off of them when there little girl was caught stealing from a local bakery. When she tried to explain that she was doing so under the order of her parents the town turned their gazes on them, only seeing the kind, smiling, and scornfully sad faces of her apparently disappointed parents. Ashamed of her actions, and furious with her parents, Najima thrashed out. She injured a little boy, she kicked him so hard in the back that it paralyzed him from the waist down. That little boy was her six year old brother, she was ten at the time. After seeing what she had done Najima ran from the village, taking with her the clothes on her back and a poorly made rag doll that she called Kimiko.
Three months after Najima had left her small town, she had made her way to Suna where the current Mizukage had ordered that she be enrolled in the Ninja Academy. Shortly after receiving her headband Najima decided that fighting and violence was not what she wanted from life, she wanted to travel and she knew enough to protect herself. After travelling back to the Sound village only to find that her parents and her little brother had been killed she quickly retreated to an unfamiliar village, Konoha, and tried to partially settle down. Currently she is staying in the attic of a Konoha family, she is also taking as many jobs as she can find so that she may pay the family for her expenses. In her spare time she practices her art skills, Najima is also known for her voice, she sings at festivals and other celebrations occasionally.

Najima Kioto was lying on the bed in her attic bedroom, the red comforter was hugged tight to her body as she tried desperately to get at least a few moments of sleep. "This is ridiculous." she whispered quietly to herself as she peeked out from underneath her comforter into the cold, moonlit atmosphere of her bedroom. Posters hung all around the room, most were drawings that Najima had done herself. It seemed to her that the faces she had drawn to keep her company were laughing at her right now. Laughing at her silently with there ever still eyes. Blind to their surroundings, yet aware of the situations. She wished she could be like them, ever ageing, yet ageless. She closed her eyes and rolled over so she was facing the only window in her bedroom. It was small, but the view made up for it. The full moon shone brightly through her window, it was midnight. She could tell because the moon was directly in the center of the window, casting soft silver beams into her eyes only making her want to stare more. A dark outline passed her window, landing softly on her window sill. Najima squinted her eyes slightly to get a better view of the small silhouette. "A butterfly?" she spoke softly, just to hear her own voice break the silence of her self-imposed prison cell. She sat watching the beautiful insect for about three minuets before it opened its wings and flew away. Najima put one hand over her heart, the butterfly had struck some deep buried nerve as she realized that she envied the butterfly also. It seemed to her that she envied everything lately, she envied the butterfly because it could fly away. It could leave everything behind and start over whenever it wanted to. But she couldn't, she owed it to Riku to suffer, she deserved to for what she had taken away from him. The thought of her broken little brother only sent another shock wave of emotion through her body, causing tears to sting the corners of her eyes. She rolled over and hugged her small doll Kimiko to her tightly, crying softly. After a few moments she wiped her eyes and pulled the comforter off of herself, sitting up in her bed and shivering slightly as her bare feet touched the frozen wooden floor. "Time to get ready for another day." she forced a smile on her face and got up, walking into the bathroom and closing the door behind her.
